The Takeover Has Begun

A recent article in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader discussed the growing demand for halal foods, meaning those approved under Islamic "scriptures" for consumption. Even the slaughter of the animal is ritualized:

Ask anyone who knows Yavuz Toklar well which day of his workweek is the hardest, and they'll tell you Wednesday. That's when he drives about 20 miles to an abattoir (slaughterhouse). Several goats, lambs and beef cattle have arrived ahead of him, courtesy of a livestock broker who procures the animals at regional auctions.
Freshly showered and with his ritual prayer washing complete, he dons knee-high rubber boots and a dark cap and picks up his 8-inch knife. He recites a short prayer in Arabic. The translation: "In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful. Allah is great."
Then quickly, carefully and with intense concentration for the task at hand, he cuts the animal's throat.
"The day after I kill, I feel bad. I can't do anything. It's not easy," says the 46-year-old Turkish-born Muslim and owner of Halal Market & Meats in Rochester, N.Y. "If God didn't give me permission to do it, I wouldn't do it."

Too bad his terrorist buddies don't feel that way about killing. Here's a link to the full article.
The article goes on to speak about a slaughterhouse in this area that caters to this demand. It says they used to do kosher processing exclusively before the Islamic demand became stronger. Halal is actually quite similar to kosher in that they both eschew pork products, blood, or animals that have not been slaughtered in the correct ritual fashion. The most disturbing aspect of this piece hit home to me with the following:

Meats must be slaughtered by a Muslim following a particular set of rules (sharia) that minimizes suffering and ensures cleanliness. These meats are considered zabiha.

Anyone remember sharia law? This is the Islamic code that brought you such classic hits as: Allowing men to have up to four wives (women only get one husband), amputation of hands/feet as a penalty for theft, death by stoning as punishment for adultery (oh but not to worry single folks, you'll only get 100 lashes if you do it), and the death penalty for conversion by Muslims to another faith. Australian prime minister John Howard and his ministers have met this threat  head-on. Yet our tolerant, compassionate, PC-deceived nation is practically salivating to usher in the 12th imam as savior replacement.
It's often said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. It appears this is the tactic that The Religion Of Peace is choosing to employ as well. They'll feed us well, and then work on making us more accepting to other "cool" things that they do. The new US dollar coin that's coming out has relegated "In God We Trust" to the edge of the coin. If "Allah Ahkbar" replaces it on the face of the coin, John Howard's country just might gain one more citizen.
You hear so much about our love of freedom. But the longer I go on, the more I question the truth of this. Jesus offers perfect freedom to those who accept him as Savior, God, and King: "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36). In the New Testament age, this means no rituals -- Love those pork chops and ham & cheese sandwiches? Eat up! -- no restrictions (apart from necessary governing laws and statutes), and no fear. If sharia law is successful in taking over the greatest country God gave man, it will be time to run for the hills and fear for the world.

Yes we're free, free from the bondage of sin and eternal judgment. I believe that the only restrictions I have in my life as a Christian are the convictions God put in my heart (which differs from the convictions He puts on others) through reading the scriptures and personal dealing with Him.

I wasn't aware the sharia addressed meat slaughtering, but I guess it makes sense. In all honesty, I like these rules a lot more than the others (burkhas, jihadist guidelines, capital punishment for Christian evangelism, etc).

While I agree with the basic premise that Christ has set Christians free from oppressive dietary restrictions, there is something to be said for the way we raise and kill animals. We are, after all, stewards of God's creation. Not that we'll see ichthus fishes on packages of ground beef anytime soon...

Personally, I like John Howard. I think he is doing a great job, many disagree. Of course this does not mean I agree with everything he says or does, but that is another issue. He has many times stood up for values that others are busily trying to tear down. Most often this seems to be done by those civil libertarians who seem to be of the opinion that anything goes and everyone should be allowed to do as they please, don't dare tell someone they can't do something... John Howard like other leaders who try to do right, is under a lot of attack and from where I am sitting needs all the support he can get...Maybe that is why the Bible tells us to pray for our leaders...God knows they need all the prayer they can get...
