EDITOR'S UPDATE 12/8: In response to reader questions, I wanted to clarify that this lyric is me trying to capture the moment right before taking a step of faith, whether it be something like evangelism or a job interview. The point is the heightened anticipation and nervousness one feels in those crucial moments when they know they're being led somewhere, to something, but aren't sure of what it is or why they're being sent there. I hope this helps ease the confusion. In the future, I'll do my best to ensure that you don't always need a secret decoder ring with you when visiting Perplexed!
